A while ago I posted a very similar project but with different materials. On the old one I used Sculpey for the warp engines, but for some reason they started becoming tacky, like they weren’t quite dry. I couldn’t figure out why and I couldn’t fix it, so I thought I’d try a different material. So far so good.
When I was a kid I used to have a big book called The Star Fleet Technical Manual. It had blueprints of ships and uniform designs and stuff like that. One of my favorite sections was the different types of starships in the fleet. And my favorite type of ship was Destroyer class.
The reason there are two of them is that I accidentally started printing in black instead of white, but it looked pretty cool anyway.
I obviously needed a stand for the ships, but I wanted it to be a bit more interactive. So I shrunk down an actual star base design and called it 51a (because why not).
I made the first five a while ago and decided that the Discovery one needed to be added. I also added a new background.
The final installment (for the time being) of the Star Trek personal transportation line. This time it’s long, sleek Voyager model, and because I thought it was kind of funny, a school bus for Klingons.
Continuing on from the VW star ship is the next two in the series, vaguely based on the Enterprise 1701-D and the Defiant.
I can’t remember where I got this idea exactly. I think it might have been Saturday Night Live.
Anyway, if you happen to be a hippie living in the 23rd century, this might be the kind of car/spaceship you would drive/fly.
I haven’t done many Star Trek crafts, so I thought I would remedy that situation. I hope I got the essence of each one, so that anyone can tell who they are supposed to be.
